Frequently asked questions
How does BeeRoot analyze food?
Take a photo of a label, package, or dish. The image is sent securely to our servers, where AI reads ingredients and evaluates them against your active safety profile (allergies, restrictions, and profile type). You receive an overall Safe, Caution, or Avoid result plus ingredient-level details.
Do I need a barcode?
No. BeeRoot uses your camera. Photograph the ingredient list or product packaging; barcode scanning is not required.
Why does BeeRoot need camera permission?
Camera access is required to capture food images for analysis. BeeRoot does not use your camera in the background. You can revoke permission in Android settings, but scanning will be disabled.
What do Safe, Caution, and Avoid mean?
Safe — no issues identified for your profile in that analysis. Caution — potential concern, ambiguity, or lower confidence. Avoid — a match to an allergy or Avoid-level restriction. These are informational only. Always verify physical packaging, especially for allergies.
My scan failed or says the image is unreadable
Use good lighting, hold the phone steady, and fill the frame with the ingredient list. Reduce glare and blur. Very small, damaged, or partial labels may fail. Raw/unlabeled food may also produce unreliable results.
I think BeeRoot gave an unsafe result
Stop relying on that result for consumption decisions, read the physical label, and follow your healthcare provider's guidance. Email us immediately with product name, label photo, profile settings, and scan output so we can investigate. Do not use BeeRoot as your only allergy safety check.
How do I delete my account or personal data?
Email beer.root.broot@gmail.com from your account email with subject "Account Deletion Request." We may verify identity before processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I exercise privacy rights (access, correction, deletion)?
Email beer.root.broot@gmail.com with subject "Privacy Request" and specify your request type and jurisdiction (if applicable). We respond within timeframes required by applicable law.
Is BeeRoot medical advice?
No. BeeRoot is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. It provides AI-assisted informational food guidance. Consult a healthcare professional for medical decisions.
